VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT

VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT – MEET ALMA

“My name is Alma and I live in Watsonville and want to share with you how Hopes Closet helped me.

The first time I heard of Hopes Closet was when my daughter’s baby was born.  In the hospital in Santa Cruz, a social worker told my daughter about Hopes Closet – that it’s a nonprofit organization that helps families who need clothes and things for babies and also clothes for children .

The second time I accompanied my daughter to get clothes for her baby, I saw so much dedication and desire to help families in need and all of this thanks to the people volunteering.  In this moment, I became interested in being a volunteer because I thought of how Hopes Closet helped us and I wanted to give back a little by volunteering with them.

I can tell you based on my experience — Hopes Closet is just like its name says – it’s a place of hope because our county of Santa Cruz is such an expensive place to live for families.  Many people don’t have sufficient resources for their families to help them survive difficult situations like families that had to evacuate because of the fires, or who lost their jobs or who simply need help with clothes, shoes or toys for their children.

Thank you Hopes Closet for helping me and for letting me be a part of you.  Thank you also to everyone who makes Hopes Closet possible within our community.”
